Video Interview | Spartacus Legends| Ubisoft/Kung Fu Factory | PAX East 2013

Last weekend, at PAX East 2013, I got to try out an interesting fighter called Spartacus Legends.  The game is developed by Kung Fu Factory, published by Ubisoft, and it is based upon the Spartacus TV series on Starz.  When it is released in May, the game will be free-to-play on XBLA and PSN.  It incorporates some very unique ideas, including RPG-style character development and the possibility of permanent character death when a fight is lost.  We are still a couple months out from the release date, but the build we played seemed to be pretty solid, and the competition system they are aiming for is different than that which I’ve seen in other fighters.  It was fun to play, very violent, and it is going to be free, so I would recommend giving it a try when it comes out.

I spoke to Game Manager Trevor Shackelford about the details of the gameplay, the characters, the permadeath system, and the overall brutality of the game.  Wait until you see his eyes light up when he talks about ripping people’s faces in half and fracturing their legs with a two handed-hammer!  Check out the interview below, and as always, come back in May for our full review.
